Background[]

Buddha Pictures was a short-lived Indian Tamil language film company founded by director and producer A. Bhim Singh.

We see some live action scenes of some natural disasters in this order:

  • A tropical storm (presumably a hurricane) in a city shore.
  • A thunderstorm.
  • An avalanche with some stones falling with the snow.
  • A volcanic eruption.
  • A river flowing strong.
  • A rock slide.

After this, we see a supposed explosion. Suddenly, we see on a cloudy background an statue of Buddha behind a translucent circle where we see some strange symbols. The Buddha statue comes towards the camera. When the statue stops moving, petals are thrown onto it and the camera pans down to show:

in the grass.

Closing Variant (Pava Mannippu)[]

The logo begins on the part of the Buddha, which does the same motion as the previous variant, and the petals are thrown, but in the screen we see "The End" in Tamil, and the camera doesn't pan down.

Music/Sounds[]

The natural disasters, the Buddha statue coming toward the camera, the petals being thrown, the panning down of the camera.

Scare Factor[]

  • Opening variant: High to nightmare. The dramatic music during the footage of natural disasters will unnerve many, as with the jarring cut from a horrific atmosphere to a calming one. The Buddha statue doesn't look all that friendly, either.
  • Closing variant: Low to medium. The absence of the natural disasters make this variant tamer, but the creepy Buddha is still there.
